This page is a plain-language summary of how MB Digital Design protects children’s personal data when they use AralBuddy, our AI study companion. It is written for parents, guardians, and students. It works together with — and does not replace — our full Privacy Policy, which remains the governing legal document.
1. The legal framework
The Philippines does not currently have a standalone children’s online privacy statute. Instead, children’s personal data is protected under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, together with the National Privacy Commission’s Guidelines on Child-Oriented Transparency, which set out how organizations must handle the personal data of users likely to be children. We design AralBuddy to meet these standards.
2. Parental and guardian consent
- Users under 18 need a parent or legal guardian’s consent before creating an AralBuddy account.
- We use age-assurance measures appropriate to the risk involved to help identify when a user is likely a minor.
- The parent or guardian who provides consent is treated as responsible for the account, including any purchases made through it.
- A parent or guardian may withdraw consent at any time, which will result in the account being suspended or deleted upon request.
3. What we collect from students, and why
We collect only what AralBuddy needs to help a student study: a nickname or name, an email address (usually the parent’s or a school-issued address), grade level, and the study questions or content the student engages with. Because information about a person’s education is legally classified as sensitive personal information in the Philippines, we apply extra security measures to it. Full details are in Section 3 of our Privacy Policy.
4. Privacy by default
- No behavioral advertising. We do not show children targeted ads, and we do not build advertising profiles from their activity.
- No sale of data. We never sell a child’s personal data to anyone, for any purpose.
- Minimum necessary data. We collect only what is needed for the study experience to work — not extra data “just in case.”
- Protective defaults. Privacy-protective settings are applied by default, not opt-in.
- No AI model training on children’s data. A child’s personal data and study content are never used to train third-party AI models.
5. Parent and guardian rights
As the parent or guardian of a student using AralBuddy, you may at any time:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about your child;
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- Ask us to delete your child’s account and associated data;
- Withdraw your consent for your child’s continued use of AralBuddy; and
- Ask us any question about how your child’s data is handled.
To do any of the above, contact our Data Protection Officer using the details in Section 7 below. We will verify your identity as the account’s parent or guardian before acting on the request, and will respond within a reasonable time consistent with our obligations under the Data Privacy Act.

Where anything in this page, our Privacy Policy, or our practices is open to interpretation, we interpret it in the way most protective of the child, consistent with the spirit of Philippine child-protection law.
